With the March general shareholders' meeting season, also known as the "hearing of the financial world," in full swing, law firms are competing for work, and
Lin is gaining attention in the field of shareholder proposals.
Since the government launched the "Value-up" program to address the undervaluation of Korean stocks, activist funds and minority shareholders have been raising their voices with shareholder proposals calling for increased shareholder returns and the appointment of directors.
As the government's "value-up" policy has created a favorable environment for activist funds, Lin is currently serving as legal counsel to five organizations, including City of London Investment, which recently filed a lawsuit against Samsung C&T, demanding that the company cancel its treasury shares and increase its dividend. Samsung C&T is being advised on its defense strategy by Korea's largest law firm Kim & Chang.
The shareholder proposal is scheduled to be on the agenda at Samsung C&T's annual general meeting on March 15, and the battle is expected to continue until the last minute.
