Recent outside appointments of Lin’s legal experts are as below. 

Tae Eon Koo reappointed as Digital Investigation Advisor, Digital Investigation Division, Supreme Prosecutors’ Office

Lin’s partner Tae Eon Koo was reappointed as a member of the 9th Digital Investigation Advisory Committee of the Digital Investigation Division of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office on October 26, 2023. The Digital Investigation Division of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office is an organization in charge of digital crime and electronic evidence investigations, and mainly handles cases related to cybercrime, information leakage, electronic financial crime, and computer hacking. To strengthen its ability to investigate high-tech crimes, the prosecutors’ office appoints top industry experts from IT companies, universities, research institutes, and law firms with extensive knowledge of digital technology and expertise as digital investigation advisors, and Mr. Koo has been appointed consecutively from the 1st to the 9th term in recognition of his expertise and seasoned experience. Mr. Koo, who recently signed a “Mutual Cooperation Agreement in the Field of Digital Forensics” with the Korea Digital Forensics Center, is actively responding to the demand for digital forensics work and will exert his best to contribute to the field of digital crime and electronic evidence investigation based on his expertise and years of experience as an IT lawyer.

Tae Eon Koo Appointed to the Steering Committee of the Busan Blockchain Regulation Free Special Zone

Lin’s partner Tae Eon Koo was appointed as a member of the Steering Committee of the Busan Blockchain Regulation Free Special Zone on October 24, 2023 (Term: October 24, 2023 ~ October 23, 2025). The Busan Blockchain Regulation Free Special Zone is a special zone dedicated to developing services that combine blockchain technology with Busan’s strong industries, such as logistics and tourism, and pioneers such integration by applying special cases within the designated area, and the Steering Committee plays an advisory role in discovering and expanding related businesses and fostering the blockchain industry. The committee is composed mainly of private experts with extensive knowledge and experience in blockchain-related fields. Mr. Koo, appointed as a member due to his deep understanding of the blockchain industry, is expected to contribute fresh perspectives and professional insights to the domestic blockchain industry and its regulations. He will deliberate and advise on the operations of the special zone, explore new business opportunities, and foster the growth of the blockchain industry.

Seung Kwan Choi Appointed as Outside Counsel of Shinhan Asset Trust Co., Ltd.

Lin’s partner Seung Kwan Choi was appointed as Outside Counsel of Shinhan Asset Trust Co., Ltd. on December 26, 2023. Shinhan Asset Trust is a trust company affiliated with the Shinhan Financial Group and one of the top five real estate trust companies in Korea. As many real estate trusts are planning to focus on risk management, rather than expanding new orders in the wake of the recent high interest rate environment and real estate market downturn, Mr. Choi, who is in charge of various local housing association cases, construction implementation and construction-related disputes, and real estate-related disputes in the construction and real estate team at Lin, will provide optimal solutions by first identifying legal issues to consider and preparing for various risks from the client’s perspective based on his diverse experience and deep knowledge of the industry.

Sung June Park Appointed as a Member of the Information Disclosure Review Committee of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy

Lin’s partner Sung June Park has been appointed as a member of the Information Disclosure Review Committee of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) (Term: November 1, 2023 ~ October 31, 2025). The Information Disclosure Review Board of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) is a body established to deliberate on whether to disclose or provide information created, acquired and managed by a public institution in the course of its duties to a requestor. As a member of the Information Disclosure Review Board, Mr. Park will do his best to ensure the public's right to know and provide convenient access to administrative information.

Sung June Park appointed as Outside Counsel of Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd. (“KOEN”)

On December 28, 2023, Lin’s attorney Sung June Park was appointed as Outside Counsel of KOEN (Term: January 1, 2024 ~ December 31, 2025). KOEN is a thermal power generator that was established in 2001 as a spin-off from KEPCO and is engaged in the development and generation of electricity resources and related business, research, technology development, and ancillary businesses with the purpose of serving the public and contributing to society by producing high-quality electricity in an affordable and stable manner. Mr. Park has provided advisory and litigation services to government agencies such as the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, public energy companies such as KEPCO and KOGAS, as well as healthcare and transportation companies. Based on his extensive experience and expertise, Mr. Park will diligently provide strategic legal advice and discharge litigation cases as Outside Counsel of KOEN.

Min Gu Kang Appointed as a Member of the Fiduciary and Consignment Dispute Mediation Council of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Win-Win Cooperation Act)

On September 29, 2023, attorney Min Gu Kang of Lin was appointed as a member of the Fiduciary and Consignment Dispute Mediation Council of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups for the period from September 29, 2023 to September 28, 2025. The Council is a body that facilitates smooth voluntary agreement and resolution between parties in the event of disputes between fiduciary and entrusted companies, and its functions and powers were strengthened on September 29 with the enforcement of the revised Win-Win Cooperation Act. As a member of the Council, Mr. Kang will do his best to assist small and medium-sized fiduciary companies that have been forced to bear the burden of unfair trade practices by fiduciary companies because they cannot afford the cost and time of litigation.

Min Gu Kang Appointed as Outside Counsel and Pro Bono Counsel for Wonju City

On November 1, 2023, Min Gu Kang of Lin was appointed as an outside counsel and pro bono counsel for the city of Wonju (November 1, 2023 ~ October 31, 2025). During the two-year term of his appointment, Mr. Kang will provide consultation on various administrative, civil, criminal, or family law matters of residents of Wonju, and will also provide advice on various legal matters related to the city of Wonju, interpret laws and regulations, and faithfully perform his duties as a legal representative.
