The Open Data Forum (ODF) held a seminar on "Generative AI and Open Data" on September 20 (Wednesday) to explore the generative AI craze brought about by ChatGPT from the perspective of open data and discuss its impact on data users. At the event,
Mr. Eung Jun Jeon of LIN presented "Open Data and Open Source Issues Related to Generative AI Models."
Regarding the current situation where anyone can easily use AI technology, which is becoming the foundation for the development of advanced industries, but there are also increasing negative opinions about open source AI, such as poor quality, copyright issues, and security vulnerabilities, Mr. Jeon said, "Recently, skepticism about open source AI has also appeared in major companies, and major AI companies such as Open AI, which has been leading the open sourceization of AI, Google, and Antropic have all made negative statements citing the risks of AI."
Recently, key figures in the AI industry have also come out against open source AI. At the AI Insights Forum, Microsoft founder Bill Gates said he was concerned that "there is a risk that AI will spread misleading or toxic information through open source."
