LIN, together with Cuatrecasas, a global law firm active in Spain, Portugal, and South America, and the Korea-Latin America Association, will host a seminar on “Challenges and Opportunities in Latin America for Korean Companies” on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. in Venus Hall, Inter Continental COEX.
In the age of climate crisis, the world's transition to clean energy is creating new green energy powers and changing the map of energy resources. Lithium, copper, and nickel are becoming much more important, while oil and gas, and the regions that control their supply are becoming less important. Competition for green resources is reshaping the geopolitics and trade, and Western companies looking to reduce their supply chain dependence on China are turning to the “middle countries” in the Global South with the ability to mediate disputes to secure green resources.
Amidst the spread of these climate-friendly policies, Latin America is an important partner of Korea's high-tech industries in the global supply chain due to its abundant lithium, copper, and nickel reserves, and Korean companies have recently been investing heavily in the joint development of natural resources in Latin America. Furthermore, as the startup ecosystem in the region is growing rapidly through various policies to support startups in Latin American countries, more Korean startups are expected to expand into the Latin American market. Against this backdrop, we are hosting this event to offer opportunities for Korean companies to obtain information needed to enter the Latin American market and to network with local law firms in Latin America.
We hope that this seminar will provide you with an overview of the latest trends in relation to entering the Latin American market. For more information and media coverage of this seminar, please see below.
