On March 11, 2024, the National Election Commission (“NEC”) held a meeting of the Election Information System Security Advisory Committee at the NEC's Gwacheon headquarters, 30 days before the 22nd National Assembly election. At the meeting, the NEC appointed seven fair and neutral external experts as security advisors to ensure the stable operation of the election information system and promote election credibility.
The seven members of the Election Information System Security Advisory Committee are Tae Eon Koo of Lin, Professor Seung Ju Kim of Korea University's Graduate School of Information Security, Professor Ki Wook Son of Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Professor Ki Hyung Kim of Ajou University's Department of Cybersecurity, Professor Myung Joo Kim of Seoul Women's University's Department of Information Security, CEO Chan Am Park of Steelian, and CEO Dong Beom Lee of Genians.
A former prosecutor specializing in cybercrime at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's Advanced Crime Investigation Division, Mr. Koo currently leads the TMT and Information Security Team at Lin, and his appointment as a member of the Security Advisory Committee is expected to contribute to ensuring the stability of the election information system by providing a more transparent view of the election information system and inspecting information security systems and equipment.
