LIN LLC operates a “Wild Card” system to give opportunities to applicants who cannot be evaluated solely by quantitative indicators such as law school grades. The system grants interview opportunities through internal cross-verification by the recruitment committee, considering the applicant’s life trajectory and potential. Attorney Il-ro Kim explained,

“The committee selects candidates suitable for the wild card criteria based on internal cross-verification and notifies them to proceed to interviews.”

LIN adopted this system because it values a spirit of challenge, a sense of ownership, and professional attitude within a rapidly changing legal market.

Attorney Sung-han Jeon stated,

“We look beyond academic grades and also look at the courses taken. Those who show genuine effort in challenging subjects or specialized fields, rather than choosing a safer, easier path, tend to receive stronger evaluations.”

Attorney Hae-gyeong Sung added,

“A good legal advisor must first be rooted in understanding people. Applicants who have broad perspectives gained through diverse experiences tend to leave a positive impression.”

In interviews, questions are tailored to the applicant’s background and experience. Attorney Kim noted,

“Some candidates answer general questions fluently but hesitate when speaking about their own stories. Conversely, there were cases where applicants genuinely excel during personal questions.”

He added that there have already been two successful hires made by candidates who dramatically exceeded expextations during the interview.

In 2025, six new associate attorneys joined LIN—five women and one man—with an average age of 28. LIN operates a “pool” system where newly joined lawyers rotate across various practice areas for the first two years to gain diverse experience. From the third year onward, they join specialized teams and receive focused training. A team-based mentoring system is also in place, allowing mentees to choose their mentors. The firm's conpensation and benefits are considered top-tier within the legal industry.

LIN also implements an “open space” policy in some offices, allowing junior and partner attorneys to work in shared spaces. Attorney Sung commented,

“This layout returns the cost savings from sharing office space to the attorneys as incentives and has a positive effect on communication and fostering a sense of belonging.”

Attorney Jeon concluded,

“I hope to see applicants who don’t just aim to fulfill assigned tasks, but who want to grow as true partners of LIN.”
